Fabric Carrots

I saw the fabric carrots here and here and decided I needed to make some for myself. They used Styrofoam as the base to build theirs but at $3.00 apiece I needed to find something a little more frugal.

I decided to make mine from empty toilet tissue and paper towel rolls. Free!!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Several cardboard rolls (T.P. paper towel, wrapping paper…)
Scissors
Masking tape
Old new paper
Fabric
Greens or something for the top

First I cut the tube down the middle then tapered them so I could form a cone shape.

Then tape them into the shape you like. I stuffed mine with newspaper to give a little more stability.

I had some leftover orange fabric from a window treatment I had made a few years ago. I tore that into pieces about 1 ½ to 2 inches wide and 8 to 10 inches long. Using a hot glue gun, I attached the fabric to the cardboard forms.

I bought one stem of greenery at the craft store for $1.50. That was the only expense for this project and it was enough to make 17 carrots.

Once the “carrot” was covered with fabric, I poked a hole in the top and glued in a piece of greens.

After the green part was in then I folded the rest of the fabric in and glued it down.

Don’t they look great on the pedestal plate my girlfriend gave me???? Just waiting for the Easter bunny. Don’t worry; I set some real ones out for him.

Have a wonderful Easter!!!
