A quote to live by

Several years ago I lost a very dear friend. He was the husband to one of my most special friends and a very extraordinary man. At the funeral there was a line out the door for three hours straight, filled with people who admired and loved him. At the church one of his favorite quotes was read. Ever since then, I’ve had a copy of that quote in my wallet. I occasionally read it and wonder if I am living up to that standard. In difficult situations I sometimes wonder to myself “How would Ed handle this?”

When I revised my photo gallery wall, I made sure to add a framed copy of this quote….

“To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 - 1882)

Do you have a quote that mean something special to you???

Wow, that is one amazing quote!

The quote I always think of is "God won't push you through what he can't pull you through."

And I also like "Children should be seen, and heard, and believed." I saw that one on a bumper sticker once.

I agree that is an amazing quote and it sounds like he was also. I always say the friends you keep truly shows the type of person your are/where.

I have one from my wedding I would love to do that saw way. Thanks for the idea :)

I love quotes that make me think. This is a great one. I will have to notice it next time I am at your house... I must have missed it last time.

This is quite a quote - such a deep idea expressed so compactly and ..with such power.

I have a quote I'm partial to... it is part of this one:

"Dear George, remember no man is a failure who has friends. Thanks for the wings, Love Clarence."

Someone sent it to me in the form of magnet and its been on my refrigerator front and center ever since. And I think of that special person that sent it to me every time I see it.

I hope you had a nice labor day weekend - and that the endless rains are not flooding your area.
